and Rural Sociology
Founded in 1972, the Swiss Society for Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology (SGA) today has over 200 members. The SGA offers a platform for exchange and dialogue between scientists, economists, administrators, policy-makers, educators and extension on current challenges faced by the agriculture and food system from an agro-economic and agro-sociological perspective. The SGA helps shape scientific discourse between national and international researchers in the disciplines of agricultural economics and rural sociology, thereby contributing to the further development of applied knowledge in these disciplines. The SGA specifically supports young scientists working in the fields of agricultural economics and rural sociology at a Swiss Research institution. The SGA’s activities contribute to a more sustainable and resilient agriculture and food system for Switzerland.
